Wyoming Abortion Bans Struck Down

On Monday, a Wyoming judge struck down the state’s overall abortion ban, including its explicit ban on medication abortion.

I am encouraged by Judge Owens’ ruling overturning the state’s abortion ban, as well as its explicit ban on safe and effective abortion medication. Already in Georgia and Texas, at least four women have died due to medically unnecessary bans on abortion care, and more deaths will follow unless harmful abortion restrictions are struck down. When states like Wyoming ban abortion, patients are forced to travel hundreds of miles to get the care they need, jeopardizing their lives, livelihoods, and well-being. Wyoming’s ban is cruel, and overturning it is an important step in restoring abortion access for Wyomingites.

We’re incredibly grateful to all the providers and advocates—including NAF members Wellspring Health Access and Dr. Giovannina Anthony—for their tireless advocacy to ensure these laws were blocked so that people across the state and the region can access essential abortion care and have control over their bodies and lives.
