How do we spend our funds?
All of our expenses support our vision of safe, accessible, and equitable abortion care. Each day, we work to advance our mission to support abortion providers and the people they serve through a host of unique and important programs.
NAF Programs
Membership Services
NAF implements diverse programming to meet the unique needs of abortion providers. Our programs include: quality assurance; technical assistance and training; and helping members finds goods, services, and resources they need to run their clinics. We also foster an essential community for abortion providers.
Training & Professional Education
NAF provides the leading abortion-specific ongoing program of accredited continuing medical education for physicians and other health care professionals. We host Annual Meetings, regional trainings, and a library of online learning resources.
Legal, Policy, & Advocacy
NAF educates the public about abortion and access issues and ensures the voice of providers and patients are represented in public discussions about abortion. We also provide information on legal and regulatory issues to our membership.
Security for Providers & Patients
NAF’s Security and Safe Access program is one of our flagship programs and one of our most utilized member benefits. Through this program, we provide essential 24/7 emergency assistance and security support for our members when they are targeted for violence or disruption. We also provide onsite security trainings and assessments at facilities and the homes of NAF members as a benefit of membership and work with law enforcement on behalf of providers.
Access & Innovation
NAF collaborates with abortion providers to design innovative workflows using technology that expand equitable access to abortion care. NAF’s telehealth platform and "EHR lite", tansy, and our patient communications tool with live chat, chloe, are available to all Members at little to no cost. We facilitate regular meetings for providers interested in implementing creative workflows and offer tailored technical assistance to help providers meet their patients' needs.

Audited Financial Statements
Each year, the National Abortion Federation and the National Abortion Hotline prepare financial statements in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the U.S. These statements are audited by an independent accounting firm and reviewed with the Board of Directors.
IRS Form 990s
Each year, the National Abortion Federation and the National Abortion Hotline file a Form 990 with the Internal Revenue Service. These forms include both financial data and important information about each organization's mission, governance, leadership, and programs.
NAF was founded and incorporated in Missouri in 1977, four years after Roe v. Wade was decided. In 2024, NAF reincorporated in Delaware, a state that is supportive of abortion access, to protect its ability to carry out its mission.
NAF operates on a January - December fiscal year. Our most recent publicly available 990 forms are for fiscal year 2024 ended 12/31/2024.
